Broadcom and Sharp partner to deliver Bluetooth technology to Digital TVs

(Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), a provider of semiconductors for
wired and wireless communications, announced on Friday (9 January) that
it is collaborating with Sharp Electronics Corporation in order to
provide next generation digital television (DTV) products with
Bluetooth technology.

Under this partnership, Sharp is now shipping its new AQUOS XS1 series
of LCD digital televisions with built-in Bluetooth from Broadcom,
featuring the BCM2046 single-chip Bluetooth receiver in both the
television and the remote control, in Japan.

This integrated Broadcom solution reportedly further enhances the user
experience and helps position Bluetooth as an increasingly important
technology in consumer electronics (CE) devices.

Financial details were not available.
