China: China Mobile Launched G3 Netbooks


(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Teaming up with overseas and domestic 17 PC makers, China Mobile Ltd. launched 29 models of G3 netbooks on April 15, 2009. The telecom carrier will push the development of the TD-SCDMA industry by joining hands with PC manufacturers, noted Lu Xiangdong, vice president of China Mobile.



The 17 PC makers included Dell Inc., Lenovo Group Limited (SEHK: 0992), Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HPQ), Samsung, Founder Technology Group Corp. (SHSE: 600601), Tsinghua Tongfang Co., Ltd. (SHSE: 600100), Acer, Haier, MSI, Greatwall Computer, TCL, Konka, BenQ, Aigo, Fijitsu, Hasee, as well as Malata.

Of the first batch of netbooks customized for China Mobile, nearly 40% were equipment with ZTE Corporation (SZSE: 000063 and SEHK: 0763)'s MU301 embedded module, which got the first net access license for TD-SCDMA embedded module in early March, according to an executive for the Shenzhen-based networking and telecommunications equipment supplier.
