Net One Systems Provides U.S. Stoke's Mobile Broadband Gateway to NTT DOCOMO for Its LTE Service Network Platform

TOKYO and SANTA CLARA, CA, Jan 12, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Net One Systems Co., Ltd. and Stoke, Inc. today announced that Stoke's mobile broadband gateway Stoke Session Exchange 3000 (SSX-3000) has been selected for NTT DOCOMO's network platform for LTE(*1) (Long Term Evolution) service.

Functional verification of the SSX-3000 as well as its proposal and sale to DOCOMO was handled by Net One Systems, Stoke's distributor in Japan. The SSX-3000, via Net One Systems, is already used as a network platform for DOCOMO's femtocell service.

In response to the rapid increase in mobile data traffic that has resulted from greater use of multimedia services in recent years, DOCOMO is building a new all-IP network infrastructure for LTE.

DOCOMO will deploy the SSX-3000 in this LTE network to aggregate eNodeB radio transmission base stations that support various mobile data such as voice, data, and video. The LTE network will enhance DOCOMO's ability to manage the growing volume of mobile broadband traffic on their RAN(*2) and backhaul(*3) infrastructure.

"We are extremely pleased to extend our relationship with DOCOMO for their LTE network with the adoption of SSX-3000," said Vikash Varma, President and CEO of Stoke. "The selection of our technology for their mobile data platform provides validation of the need for the innovative technology offered by Stoke." Tomohiro Iwamoto, Executive General Manager of Net One Systems, said, "Net One Systems is continuously researching and finding the latest cutting edge technology and products from overseas that would be the best fit for the Japanese market. We also perform detailed functional verification so that the performance desired by our customers is achieved. We would like to continue to support DOCOMO's LTE network by leveraging our network technology and knowledge." About the SSX-3000 The Stoke SSX-3000 is a multi-function gateway for mobile carriers.

By deploying the SSX-3000 at the network's edge, mobile carriers can offer mobile broadband services that utilize various access methods such as 3G, Wi-Fi, femtocells, WiMAX, and LTE. As a result, subscribers can be assured access to mobile broadband services without worrying about the access method.

Despite its compact 5RU chassis, the SSX-3000 has extremely advanced processing power for sessions and encryption, and a single SSX-3000 can support up to 240,000 subscribers in a throughput configuration of up to 16Gbps. With its wide set of mobility management functions, it enables a seamless transition between different infrastructures, including 3G and LTE. SSX-3000 is also equipped with security features, IP session management features, and billing capabilities.
