Tekelac selected by BSNL for mobile number portability and SIP routing

(Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Tekelec (Nasdaq: TKLC) announced today that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), an India telecom company, has selected it to provide mobile number portability and session initiation protocol (SIP) routing.

Under the deal, financial details of which were not disclosed, BSNL will implement Tekelec's number portability solution for signalling system 7 (SS7) and SIP-based networks, supporting its multi-vendor network environment.

The service provider will add SS7 number portability to the EAGLE 5 signalling platform, which BSNL had previously deployed for Tekelec's signal transfer point (STP) advanced routing application.

BSNL also selected Tekelec's SIP Signalling Router (SSR), an application residing on the EAGLE XG IP signalling platform, for number portability for next-generation network customers.

BSNL has selected Tekelec's solutions through ITI Ltd, an Indian telecommunications manufacturer offering switching, transmission, access and mobile equipment.

Tekelec is a provider of core multimedia session control, mobile messaging and network intelligence.
