Oct 06, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- The Japan Committee of Continua Health Alliance, a non-profit open industry organization of healthcare and technology companies dedicated to improving the quality of personal healthcare, announced that 25 Continua member companies from around the world will showcase new consumer healthcare services at CEATEC JAPAN 2011, the IT and electronics technologies exhibition being held at Makuhari Messe near Tokyo through October 8.

In a release, the alliance noted event details: The member companies will demonstrate a variety of next-generation Continua-compliant personal connected healthcare technologies and regional partnership solutions, some of which are slated to launch in November. Through hands-on demonstrations, CEATEC visitors will experience the ease of personal healthcare management using these services.

For example, NTT Resonant Inc., a Japanese Internet service provider, will showcase forthcoming functions of its Continua-compliant health management services "goo Karada Log," which will work in concert with Continua-compliant blood pressure monitors slated to be introduced this November by A&D Company, a manufacturer of precision medical instruments.

In addition, Alive Inc., a wireless solution provider will demonstrate data-exchange devices for Continua-compliant services using a Bluetooth-compatible USB dongle. Other next-generation technology communications standards demonstrations will include: -Freescale Semiconductor Japan's ZigBee home wireless communication system and USB solution; -A Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) platform by CSR PLC., the world leader in wireless technology; -BLE modules by electronic components producer Murata Manufacturing Company; -Products using near field communication (NFC) from Sony Corp.

"We are delighted that so many consumer-ready Continua-compliant personal connected healthcare products and services will be on display at CEATEC JAPAN 2011," said Chuck Parker, executive director, Continua Health Alliance. "We look forward to the increasing popularity of these products and services as we continue to spread the word about using personal connected healthcare to more efficiently and cost-effectively manage individual health and wellness."
