Electronica 2012 in Munich: a Report by Promwad Innovation Company

Its result was 72,000 visitors from 78 countries. A total of 2,669 exhibitors, including Promwad Electronics Design House showed the present and future of the electronics world.

The central topic in all halls of the fair was a growing sector of automotive electronics. This trend was presented at the Promwad's stand. So, it is not surprising that universal SDR-platform aroused particular interest of visitors. This hardware and software platform was developed at Promwad Innovation Company for dynamic design of wireless communication systems. In addition to smart grids, the possible application areas of this platform include video-monitoring and conference systems, digital TV and radio, radio-frequency identification scanners, multi-sync systems, etc.

There are some more hot topics of electronica 2012: energy-saving technologies and the latest developments in medical electronics.

Strengthening the position of electronica Apart from Germany, the largest groups of visitors came to the fair from Italy, Austria, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Switzerland, France, Russia, and the United States, respectively.

Nicole Schmitt, Exhibition Group Director for electronica: 'The large percentage of international guests proves once again that electronica is the world's leading trade fair for the electronics industry.' And there is a list of countries with the largest number of exhibitors: Germany, China, Taiwan, USA, UK, Italy, Hong Kong, France, Switzerland, and Japan, respectively.

Other conferences and special events More than 200 people, including guests from Denmark, Finland, Taiwan and the USA took part in the first conference on embedded platforms.

About 300 participants from 19 countries took part in the conference on automotive electronics. It was devoted to topics such as cost to design and car-to-car communication. In the future, WLAN-technology will allow motor vehicles to pass information to each other, even at high speeds.

Results and forecasts According to a study conducted by the marketing-research institute TNS Infratest, visitors were very satisfied with the results of electronica 2012: 95 percent rated the fair as good or excellent.

Norbert Bargmann, Deputy CEO of Messe Munchen, praised the event noting that the results of this year confirm the importance of electronics as the most important sector of the global industry.

Industry players make cautious optimistic forecasts for 2013. 'After a minor slump, we expect the world market for electronic components to grow by some four percent to 480 billion US dollars. Forecasts also call for an increase in sales in the global semiconductor industry,' said Christoph Stoppok, Managing Director of the PCB and Electronic Systems Association in the ZVEI.

The next electronica will be in Munich from the 11th to 14th of November, 2014.
