Japanese company to launch device to track dogs' health(EFE Ingles Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Tokyo, Nov 27 (EFE).- Japanese electronics manufacturer Fujitsu will launch Tuesday on the domestic market a device which, attached to a dog's collar, monitors the pet's health through an information technology (IT) program. The wireless device, dubbed Wandant, connects with the owners' personal computers or smartphones, on which they can follow the state of the dog's health, the company said in a communique. Data collected by the pedometer, which weighs a mere 16 grams (1/2 ounce) and measures 4.6 centimeters (1 4/5 inches) wide by 2.8 centimeters (1 1/10 inches) high, is filed in cloud storage by a computer program monitoring the animal's health. Wandant will be able to measure the dog's steps, register its neck temperature and analyze its bodily vibrations to show, for example, its stress level or indicate any obesity problems, one of the worst problems of pets living indoors. The information collected can also be analyzed using charts that register daily, weekly and monthly activity, an easy way to spot significant changes in health. The service, sold together with the device, will cost some 9,800 yen (about 92 euros or $119) for the first year and 420 yen (some 4 euros or $5) a month after that.
