Fujifilm "World Photo Relay" -- The camera is the baton! Take and share photos and connect with others via a totally new Facebook campaign!

Nov 30, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) is introducing a WORLD PHOTO RELAY online photo campaign incorporating Facebook elements as a promotion for the flagship compact FinePix F800EXR (F800EXR) digital camera.

WORLD PHOTO RELAY : A global campaign connecting people with their friends The World Photo Relay F800EXR promotion connects social network "friends" to create face-to-face communication.

Campaign participants ("runners") post photos taken with a FinePix F800EXR on a special site, then select a Facebook friend to become the next runner by handing along the camera. Facebook friends from participating countries pass the camera from hand-to-hand, like a baton, posting photos with the goal of earning lots of "Likes".

Eight countries and regions are involved in the campaign: Japan, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Canada, Russia, South Korea and Hong Kong. A maximum of five teams (cameras) in each country are participating in the relay. Participants share their photos with other members of their team and with people around the world via the special World Photo Relay site. Locations where the photos were shot are also plotted on a map, with new photos added one by one to the record of images taken by each team, making it possible for website users to also view the actual journey of each team's camera.

The rules are very simple. The first step is to take great photo with a FinePix F800EXR that gets Liked a lot.

Next, participants post their photos on the World Photo Relay website (with a maximum of ten photos over three days).

Finally, they choose a friend via Facebook to pass along the camera to who becomes the next runner. WLAN function gives the F800EXR an affinity for Facebook and other forms of social communication.

The FinePix F800EXR is the first camera in the F-series with a Wireless Image Transfer function which facilitates sending photos to smartphones and tablets ** quickly and simply. Once users have downloaded the dedicated FUJIFILM Photo Receiver (free of charge), to their smartphone or tablet, they can easily transfer photos from the camera to the smartphone or tablet without going through the trouble of entering IDs or passwords. Up to 30 images can be sent in a single transmission, and users can share their photos online on Facebook and other social networking sites anytime and anywhere. The images from the camera can then be viewed on the larger screen of smartphone or tablet for selection and uploading. Expanding your world through the joy of taking and sharing photos; contents made possible by FUJIFILM FinePix F800EXR.

As of 18:30 November 19, 2012, 172 runners have uploaded 1,321photos, earning a total of 24,731 "Like!" so far. The subjects of uploaded images vary from country to country. For example, the German team has posted a large number of views of natural landscapes or of local scenery; the English team has shot the national flag, pets, and people having fun with liquors at the bar; Hong Kong participants are posting mainly photos of family or friends; and the Japanese team's photos include flowers and playful shots of characters. The preference for different types of photos among countries and teams is an extremely interesting aspect of this campaign. Please visit the World Photo Relay website and the World Photo Relay Facebook page during the campaign period (through December 25) and support the relay by "Liking!" what you see!
