Dr. Jan Uddenfeldt Joins Guavus Industry Advisory Board

Guavus

that Dr. Jan Uddenfeldt has joined Guavus's Industry Advisory Board
(IAB). Dr. Uddenfeldt is currently a Senior Advisor to the Corporate
Executive Officer of Research and Development at Sony Corporation and
until this month served as Corporate Vice President and Chief Technology
Officer of Sony Mobile Communications.

Prior to his role as Chief Technology Officer and Corporate Vice
President at Sony Mobile, Dr. Uddenfeldt held various roles at Ericsson (News - Alert),
including Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer; and Senior
Vice President and Senior Advisor Tehnology to the CEO. As CTO, his
responsibilities ranged from global wireless infrastructure and handset
technology (2G, 3G and 4G LTE) to strategy oversight for optical, DSL,
IP router and switching systems. As advisor to CEO he was responsible
for Technology Strategies and for Technology Alignment with leading
operators. During his time at Ericsson, Dr. Uddenfeldt also facilitated
cooperation between leading Internet companies to grow the mobile
broadband ecosystem.
Dr. Uddenfeldt is a fellow of IEEE (News - Alert) and a member of the Royal Academy of
Engineering Sciences. He is the recipient of several prizes for his
achievements, including the German Edward Rhein Foundation Technology
Prize in 1997 for innovation in GSM technologies and the Swedish KTH
Prize in 2000 for GSM and 3G. In 2005, he received a Gold Medal from the
Swedish Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences for his contribution to
the cellular communications industry. He is also a recipient of the
Telecom Innovator of the Year award from Tech America. Dr. Uddenfeldt
received his Ph.D. in 1978 from the Royal Institute of Technology in
Stockholm and an honorary doctorate in 1996 from the University of Lund.
Formation (News - Alert) of the Guavus Industry Advisory Board results from the organic
evolution of Guavus's Cable Advisory Board and, in addition to Dr.
Uddenfeldt, is comprised of Sudhir Ispahani and Marwan Fawaz. Ispahani
and Fawaz are former CTOs of Liberty Global and Charter Communications (News - Alert),
respectively.
