U.S. Patents Awarded to Inventors in Oregon (Jan. 10)

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Targeted News Service Targeted News Service ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 10 -- The following federal patents were awarded to inventors in Oregon.

*** Ford Global Technologies Assigned Patent for Methods and Systems for Engine Starting ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 10 -- Ford Global Technologies, Dearborn, Mich., has been assigned a patent (8,352,153) developed by six co-inventors for "methods and systems for engine starting." The co-inventors are Alex O'Connor Gibson, Ann Arbor, Mich., Ross Dykstra Pursifull, Dearborn, Mich., John D. Russell, Portland, Ore., Joseph Norman Ulrey, Dearborn, Mich., Gopichandra Surnilla, West Bloomfield, Mich., and Donald J. Lewis, Howell, Mich.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "Methods and systems are provided for controlling a vehicle system including an engine that is selectively deactivated during engine idle-stop conditions and selectively reactivated during engine restart conditions. One example method comprises, during an engine restart from an idle stop, performing a first combustion event in a cylinder with a piston at an engine crankshaft position that is after a crankshaft position at which said cylinder's exhaust valve opens, and before a crankshaft position at which the cylinder's intake valve closes, during a cycle of said cylinder. In this way, inaccuracies in cylinder aircharge estimation may be reduced, thereby also reducing air-fuel ratio errors and improving the quality and repeatability of engine restarts." The patent application was filed on Feb. 13, 2009 (12/371,187). The full-text of the patent can be found at http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-bool.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=PTXT&s1=8,352,153&OS=8,352,153&RS=8,352,153 Written by Satyaban Rath; edited by Hemanta Panigrahi.

*** Intel Assigned Patent for Allocating Group Resources for Wireless Communications ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 10 -- Intel, Santa Clara, Calif., has been assigned a patent (8,351,384) developed by five co-inventors for "allocating group resources for wireless communications." The co-inventors are Shweta Shrivastava, Beaverton, Ore., Rath Vannithamby, Portland, Ore., Yuval Lomnitz, Herzelia, Israel, Aran Bergman, Givatayim, Israel, and Tom Harel, Shfaim, Israel.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "A single format of MAC control message may be used for the addition, deletion, or rearrangement of users in a group within a wireless network. In some cases, a change in the nature of the group may be implemented immediately upon receipt of a positive acknowledgement. A mobile station may determine its ACID without maintaining information about the previous ACID or startup frame." The patent application was filed on Dec. 22, 2009 (12/644,090). The full-text of the patent can be found at http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=83,51,384.PN.&OS=PN/83,51,384&RS=PN/83,51,384 Written by Amal Ahmed; edited by Jaya Anand.

*** Intel Assigned Patent for Transmission of Preamble Code for Mobile WiMAX Systems ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 10 -- Intel, Santa Clara, Calif., has been assigned a patent (8,351,322) developed by Yang-Seok Choi, Portland, Ore., Ahmed Ibrahim, Cairo, Egypt, and Jiacheng Wang, Chaoyan, China, for a "transmission of preamble code for mobile WiMAX systems." The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "Embodiments of an apparatus and methods for transmission of timing and synchronization information for mobile WiMAX systems are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed." The patent application was filed on Feb. 24, 2010 (12/660,295). The full-text of the patent can be found at http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=83,51,322.PN.&OS=PN/83,51,322&RS=PN/83,51,322 Written by Amal Ahmed; edited by Jaya Anand.

*** Lattice Semiconductor Assigned Patent ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 10 -- Lattice Semiconductor, Hillsboro, Ore., has been assigned a patent (8,351,287) developed by Rohith Sood, Portland, Ore., Fabiano Fontana, San Jose, Calif., and Zheng Chen, Upper Macungie, Pa., for "bitline floating circuit for memory power reduction." The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "Techniques are provided which may be used to reduce power consumed by memory circuits. In one example, a memory circuit includes a static random access memory (SRAM) cell. A pair of bitlines are connected to the SRAM cell. A precharge circuit is connected to the bitlines. The precharge circuit is adapted to precharge the bitlines immediately prior to read and write operations performed on the SRAM cell and float relative to the bitlines at other times." The patent application was filed on Dec. 22, 2010 (12/976,412). *** Intel Assigned Patent ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 10 -- Intel, Santa Clara, Calif., has been assigned a patent (8,351,848) developed by Shantidev Mohanty, Santa Clara, Calif., and Muthaiah Venkatachalam, Beaverton, Ore., for a "device, system and method of power-saving for wireless communication." The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "Some demonstrative embodiments include devices, systems and/or methods of managing power saving mechanisms of wireless communication devices. For example, a wireless communication unit may relay communications between a wireless communication device and a base station, wherein the wireless communication unit is to manage a power-saving mechanism of the wireless communication device by scheduling one or more power-save periods for the wireless communication device, and transmitting to the wireless communication device a power-save message indicating the one or more power-save periods. Other embodiments are described and claimed." The patent application was filed on Dec. 23, 2009 (12/645,502).
