New design for the Apple iBeacon revealed in patent filing [Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia)]

(Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Something from Apple that isn’t the iPhone nor the iWatch? That’s right! Announced as part of iOS 7 at last year's WWDC, iBeacons are Apple's location-based monitoring tools which will allow companies, or well, other people to send notifications to people based on how close they are to an iBeacon.

Filed through FCC, the technical documentation shows the device running on a 2.4GHz wireless frequency, which is powered by a 5 volt power supply. Furthermore, there is a USB port for good measure too. With iOS 8 and it's home automation software on the horizon, is it possible that the iBeacon may get released sooner than later. Apple certainly has quite the bucket list of devices to be released this year alone, so we are definitely curious of the iBeacon ever makes it out this year.
