Gap Inc. Veteran Bill Fisher Joins Lanetix's Board of Directors

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) September 22, 2014 William S. Fisher, director of Gap, Inc. and retail visionary -- will join the board of directors at Lanetix, a trusted leader in cloud-based productivity, workflow and CRM solutions for the logistics and transportation industry.

The Lanetix board announcement was made today at the annual Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) conference. The "19th Annual Study on the State of Logistics Outsourcing" from Penn State was released at the event stating that the industry is poised for steep growth due to technologies such as Lanetix which are based on the industry-leading Salesforce1 cloud platform.

With today's board appointment of the Gap Inc. veteran, Lanetix further deepens its supply chain insight -- Fisher has more than 30 years of leadership experience including oversight of international retail operations for Gap Inc.

"We are delighted to welcome Bill to Lanetix's board of directors," said John Golob, chief executive of San Francisco-based Lanetix. "Bill brings wide-ranging expertise in corporate strategy and development, as well as deep experience in retail, branding and logistics innovation. Our board is a strategic resource for Lanetix's management team, and their backgrounds provide a balance of logistics and shipping leadership from a global perspective. We look forward to his contribution to our direction, strategy and product priorities." Fisher, a San Francisco-resident, has held many leadership positions within Gap, the global apparel brand his parents founded in 1969. Fisher pioneered Gap Inc.'s presence worldwide, and was named director in 2009. He also founded Manzanita Capital, an equity firm that invests in European luxury and consumer retail companies.

The addition of Fisher to Lanetix's board signals the sales-software company's end-to-end expertise: Lanetix knows how to help shippers gain market share while helping logistics companies compete on the basis of value, not just price. Fisher will serve alongside noted 3PL leadership, including Reinhard Lange, Kuehne + Nagel's former CEO who recently joined Lanetix's board.

"The logistics industry is ripe for innovation; shippers around the world are eager to collaborate more closely with logistics providers," Fisher explained. "Lanetix plays an integral role in bringing shippers closer to their logistics partners through innovative mobile and cloud-based solutions that streamline account management, operations, business development and sales support services. I am looking forward to contributing to the company's growth." About William S. Fisher: Fisher's legacy at Gap Inc. spans three decades; he was the general manager in Canada, and later played an integral role in expanding into new retail frontiers in France, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom. His effort culminated in a position on Gap Inc.'s board of directors in 2009. Today, Gap International is in 50 countries and has sales in excess of $3 billion, with 140,000 employees, around 3,200 company-operated stores across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, China, France, Ireland, Japan and Italy plus almost 400 franchise stores.

In 2001, Fisher founded Manzanita Capital Limited, a London-based private equity firm that invests in European luxury and consumer retail companies such as Diptyque and Space NK. Fisher serves on the board of Diptyque, a French custom fragrance and luxury candle company. Diptyque, founded in Paris in 1961 and acquired by Manzanita in 2005, has multiplied its reach throughout Paris, London, Toulouse, Milan, Tokyo, Doha, Dubai, and American cities such as New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Costa Mesa, and Los Angeles. The premium scent product line is carried throughout Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom stores in America.

Fisher is also a member of the board of Space NK, a British beauty and wellness retailer that became a Manzanita company in 2002. Today, Space NK is an international brand, with an online marketplace for globally sourced cosmetics, as well as 62 stores across the UK and Ireland, and 22 locations in the United States.

A noted philanthropist, Fisher serves as vice chairman of the San Francisco Exploratorium science museum and acts as chairman of the City Fields Foundation, a non-profit that addresses the chronic shortage of sports playfields in San Francisco.

Fisher holds a MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business; and a B.A. in Science from Princeton University. He serves on the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council, helping guide the next generation of global leaders.
