ABS-CBNmobile partners with Huawei, Cloudfone for new offers

(Philippine Star News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBNmobile, a partnership between the Lopez family and Ayala-led Globe Telecom Inc., has partnered with handset manufacturers Huawei and Cloudfone to introduce new exciting offers as part of efforts to boost its subscriber base.

The Lopez-controlled telecom provider said the partnership allows Huawei and Cloudfone to bundle their phones with ABS-CBNmobile SIM cards.

Each phone kit would come with exclusive offers such as weekly one-day Internet load for four weeks as well as pre-installed ABS-CBNmobile apps such as iWanT TV and featured celebrities on iWant Stars.

ABS-CBNmobile and the device manufacturers aim to offer the best phones with the big screen displays perfect for iWant TV and the phone kits come at the most reasonable prices depending on the needs of customers.

The new ABS-CBNmobile phone kits with Huawei include the following phone models: Ascend Y330 worth P3,490, Ascend Y600 worth P4,990, Ascend G6 worth P9,990, and Ascend P7 worth P20,999. Huawei offers vivid video display that is perfect for watching videos.

The Cloudfone models include Excite 355g worth P2,299, Excite 400dx worth P2,999, Excite 451q worth P4,499, and Excite 502q worth P4,999.

ABS-CBNmobile earlier expanded its network through a partnership with SM Supermalls and multi-level marketer Telepreneur Corp. (TPC) as it targets two million subscribers all over the country.

Chito Franco, head of National Sales and Distribution of ABS-CBN Convergence Inc., earlier said the partnerships would strengthen the presence of ABS-CBNmobile all over the country especially in places where it has few distributors and dealers.

ABS-CBNmobile expects to book P900 million in start-up losses arising from the tie-up with Globe as it hopes to quadruple the number of subscribers to about one million this year.

ABS-CBN Convergence is looking at breaking even at two million subscribers instead of four million subscribers.

ABS-CBNmobile's network sharing agreement with Globe Telecom signed in May last year allows ABS-CBN Convergence to provide ABS-CBN content in addition to traditional telecommunication services on mobile devices.

Through the network-sharing agreement, Globe would provide capacity and coverage on its existing cellular mobile telephony network to ABS-CBN Convergence on a nationwide basis.
