ZTE Wins 2014 GTI Excellence Award for Massive MIMO Solution

ZTE (News - Alert) Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, was awarded a GTI excellence award, recognising its innovative pre5G massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) solution.

In November 2014, ZTE successfully completed pre-commercial field testing of the world's first pre5G 3D/massive MIMO base stations in partnership with China Mobile (News - Alert). The testing was based on ZTE's latest 64-port/128 antenna 3D/massive MIMO base station.

3D/Massive MIMO is a key part of 5G technology. Multi-antenna technology improves wireless spectrum efficiency significantly, which in turn increases network coverage and system capacity, and helps telecom operators' maximise the use of existing site locations and spectrum resources. According to the simulatio completed by ZTE and China Mobile, the Massive MIMO throughput can be four to six times higher than the 4G throughput.

This GTI award highlights ZTE's achievements in utilizing Massive MIMO for commercial deployment, and further activity regarding the commercial concept of pre5G. As a leading provider of 4G, ZTE is committed to continuous innovation and preparing for commercial 5G products.
