ZTE Invited by EU Commissioner to Contribute Technology Expertise to Europe

At the meeting, Commissioner Moedas discussed plans to drive technology development and digitization in the European Union with Mr. Shi, welcoming ZTE to invest in new projects in the region and encouraged the company to participate in the Horizon 2020 program. Commissioner Moedas also commented on growing collaboration between the European Union and China across multiple facets.

"ZTE is delighted to contribute to technology and research projects in Europe including Horizon 2020 and 5G Infrastructure Public Private Partnership," Mr. Shi said after his meeting with Commissioner Moedas. "Europe is a key strategic market for ZTE, and we recognize the importance of new projects in Europe to foster technology innovation."

At the Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) 2015 conference in Barcelona this month, ZTE showcased the world's first pre5G Massive MIMO commercial base station, demonstrating the company's world-leading capabilities in 5G research. As one of the main contributors in the definition of 4G standards, ZTE is committed to promoting the development of 5G technology and standards.



ZTE is building partnerships and alliances as part of the company's efforts to the Horizon 2020 program and 5G standardization. ZTE is also committed to working with European companies and other ICT providers to participate in R&D innovation programs in China.

During his current tour to Europe, Mr. Shi also met Hannelore Kraft, Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia, at the CeBIT (News - Alert) conference in Hannover, Germany, to discuss partnerships and efforts to promote technology development. ZTE's headquarters for operations in Germany is based in Düsseldorf, capital city of North Rhine-Westphalia.


At CeBIT, Mr. Shi delivered a keynote address at the China-Germany Entrepreneurs' Dialogue, highlighting the potential for deeper collaboration between companies in the two countries in areas including electric vehicles and alternative energy. Wolfgang Schaeuble, Finance Minister of Germany, and Ma Kai, Vice-Premier of China, officiated at the China-Germany Entrepreneurs' Dialogue event, which was attended by business leaders from the two countries.

Sigmar Gabriel, Vice-Chancellor and Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany, and Mr. Ma led senior officials of Germany and China in a tour of ZTE's exhibition at CeBIT, where they were introduced to ZTE's world-leading solutions including wireless charging for electric vehicles and 4G air-to-ground broadband.

In 2014, ZTE unveiled its M-ICT strategy to accelerate innovations to empower customers to capture new opportunities and create value from the proliferation of mobile connectivity.
