ARRIS, a global communications technology company, for the second year in a row has been named one of the Top Ten International Brands operating in China's Broadcasting and Telecommunications marketplaces.
Senior executives from the Government Ministries regulating TV, film and voice, as well as executives from the nation's top mobile, cable and broadcasting operators selected the list of top international brands. Even other global technology companies such as Sony, Panasonic and Fujitsu (News - Alert) were also involved in the selection process.
"We are extremely honored to receive this most prestigious honor," said ARRIS VP China Business Development, Ming Wu, on accepting the award, in a press release. "ARRIS has made a long-term strategic commitment to the Chinese telecommunications market, and specifically to its rapidly expanding cable segment, as evidenced by our large research and development in Shenzhen and our sales and support offices throughout the country."
The cable operators of China, through ARRIS are provided with broadband high speed data access, Video on Demand and deep fiber optical solutions. Over 75 engineers are employed in its Shenzhen R&D facility. The company has offices in Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Shenzhen. It has operated in the Chinese market for over 20 years through companies it has acquired over the years, such as Philips, Texscan and C-COR (News - Alert).
The company also provides broadband operators with the tools and platforms they need to deliver carrier-grade telephony, network video processing, whole home video, demand driven video, next-generation advertising, network and workforce management solutions, access and transport architectures and ultra high-speed data services.
In related news, ARRIS announced the addition of an Audio Normalization feature, along with several other new features, to its versatile VIPr Transcoder/Re-Encoder. The VIPr now provides a cost-effective, ready-to-deploy resolution to one of the loudest and longest-standing complaints cable operators.
