NetScout Systems, Inc., a provider of Unified Service Delivery Management solutions, announced that mobile service provider Taiwan Mobile has deployed the nGenius Service Assurance Solution across its network.

NetScout’s (News - Alert) nGenius Service Assurance Solution is a deployment-proven, real-time IP service assurance solution providing end-to-end unified visibility. The solution empowers carriers to successfully transition to an all-IP network, protect services, cost-effectively introduce new IMS (and other) services and to simplify operations.

The operator in Taiwan required a scalable approach which could enable consistent network performance and user experience for high bandwidth data services, as well as assistance with billing mediation for roaming customers.

Taiwan Mobile (News - Alert) is using the nGenius solution to monitor the network’s gateway GPRS support node (GGSN), HTTP traffic, 3GPP performance, and DNS servers to determine how the increase in subscriber data traffic and new 3G services are impacting overall operations, and deliver optimum network performance.

Taiwan Mobile is also helping NetScout to maximize revenue opportunities from the operator’s roaming agreements and inter-exchange traffic with other carriers. Taiwan Mobile utilizes the nGenius Service Assurance Solution to monitor roaming traffic and capture performance data on the operator’s network as well as on roaming partner networks, and compare performance levels.

nGenius supports Taiwan Mobile for billing mediation associated with roaming customers. The nGenius Service Assurance Solution captures and validates traffic traversing the GGSN, and the devices which support subscriber authentication and chargeback functions. By providing billing mediation data which verifies that charges which are billed to customers or passed along to other carriers are properly accounted for, nGenius solution is an important Operation Support System (OSS) infrastructure.
