U.S. software developer Rapidsoft Systems, Inc. has landed a huge deal with a leading Indian media group to allow access to its telecom solutions for streamlining the activities of field workforce.

The media company, whose name Rapidsoft has not disclosed, will use the applications to enable its field officers in over two hundred cities to update local circulation, payment information and other operational data in real time.

The Princeton, NJ-based software maker said its mobile applications are crucial for media companies to streamline the field operation that will ultimately result in significant cost savings.

The application, a first of its kind in India, supports several mobile phones such as Blackberry, Android (News - Alert) Phone, iPhone and J2ME Nokia Symbian phones.

 Managing a newspaper in a country like India task becomes challenging if the publisher has to distribute the copies in thousands of cities hours after printing.

Such a task needs accurate data to forecast daily circulation demand and reduce expensive newsprint waste. Rapidsoft’s applications automate the data collection process with regard to circulation and payment.

"Though we have been working on Mobile software for many years, developing these mobile applications presented some unique challenges. The development team worked closely with customer's operations and engineering team,” said Gurbinder Mavi, VP of Sales, Rapidsoft Systems.
