Malaysian mobile operator Maxis Berhad has selected Vringo’s (News - Alert) fully hosted video ringtone service for the Malaysian market. The new partnership with Malaysia’s supposedly largest mobile operator will expand Vringo’s reach to millions of subscribers.
With its video ringtone application and Web platform, Vringo has claimed that it revolutionizes the traditional call signature, transforming the basic act of making and receiving mobile phone calls into a highly visual, social experience. Vringo’s video ringtones power up the mobile with video and real music sounds when a call is received. Users can use customary video clips and sound files to denote each call.
After becoming a member Vringo users can take any content from anywhere and turn it into a visual ringtone. Vringo then enables users to share this content during every phone call. Vringo has combined all the aspects of online sharing and community with the calling process.
Maxis serves more than 11.4 million prepaid and postpaid customers in Malaysia and the company has noted that the launch of Vringo service is part of their strategy to bring advanced applications and technologies into the Malaysian market.
Kee Saik Meng, senior manager at Maxis’ Product Development and Infotainment Services said that the company’s consistent focus on developing innovative services is one of the reasons it remains one of Malaysia’s most respected brands.
According to company officials, Vringo’s mission is to bring a new breed of ringtone, a visual, social call signature to phones all over the world. With this offering, Maxis subscribers are the first in Malaysia’s mobile services consumer market to enjoy video ringtones with social networking capabilities.
