Tranzeo Wireless Technologies, a manufacturer of wireless broadband and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX (News - Alert)) communication systems, is developing WiMAX radios for the Indonesian market, in association with Teknologi Riset Global (TRG).

TRG is the subsidiary of Indonesian Tower Group, a telecommunication infrastructure provider in Indonesia.

Indonesia is focusing on local contents in telecommunication equipment to boost economy. The partnership between Tranzeo (News - Alert) and TRG will combine world-class radio expertise from Tranzeo with TRG's system expertise to satisfy the local content requirements, the companies said.

Through this agreement, Tranzeo and TRG agree to collaborate on the development of WiMAX subscriber units based on the 802.16d standard to be incorporated into TRG's total WiMAX solution for the Indonesian market.

The two companies are developing WiMAX subscriber units to address future requirements of Indonesian market accelerated by government’s plan to release spectrum at 2.3GHz and 3.3GHz for WiMAX broadband services.

Of the 237 million people in Indonesia, only 10 percent are Internet users and only 1.5 million have broadband access, so there is a lot of scope for the expansion of WiMAX in the country.

“WiMAX is an ideal solution for the development of broadband wireless access in Indonesia,” said Jim Tocher, president and CEO of Tranzeo, in a statement. “This partnership with TRG positions our two companies to lead in the development and deployment of WiMAX systems in Indonesia.”

“We are pleased to be working with Tranzeo to develop and deploy world-class WiMAX equipment in Indonesia,” said Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, president director of Indonesian Tower, in a statement. “Tranzeo has an excellent reputation world-wide for creating high performance and high quality radios for the broadband wireless market.”

Recently, Tranzeo Wireless Technologies (News - Alert) signed an agreement with SIIX, a contract manufacturer with worldwide operations, to manufacture the Tranzeo WiMAX product line at the SIIX facility in Batam, Indonesia. Through this agreement Tranzeo is positioned to supply WiMAX radios throughout Asia including Indonesia.

Tranzeo is duplicating its manufacturing processes at SIIX's Batam facility to add additional capacity for its WiMAX product line, to improve its business continuity process, and to better serve the Asia market place with local manufacturing and support, shorter delivery times, and reduced shipping costs, a statement from the company said.
